Black Pazuzu, Prince of Woe was a winged demon prince who discovered by Khalas, the Wanderer who recruited him to the forces of the Triumvirate. The greater demon's legion flanked the forces of the Elder Gods during the War of Humanity, routing them in a gambit which was turned aside only upon the arrival of the Greater Dragons. When the Triumvirate was defeated, the Divine Tribunal condemned Pazuzu and his army to the Chaos Plane.

Some time after their arrival in the Chaos Plane, Pazuzu, Slith, and the inferno Legions expressed alarm as their environment received the brunt of the chaos dispersed by Ayar and began to warp and mutate. Chaos thralls spawned - among them, Jy'Barrak Golgotha - which the demons immediately enslaved.

Whilst on the Chaos Plane, Pazuzu was summoned by the arcane rituals of the Tsol'teth lords Agith'maal, Terrin'ukia, and Gattan'lier. The demon prince appeared only briefly, much to the Tsol'teth lords' chagrin, and uttered only the word, "Seleucar", before vanishing once more into the ether.

Eventually, Pazuzu's arrogance provoked Golgotha to stage a coup d'état, swaying even Danaeus, Pazuzu's chief advisor, to his cause. At Golgotha's command, Pazuzu, Slith, and Slith's chief advisor Zsarachnor were exiled to the Prime Material Plane. Taking the identity of Taug, Pazuzu infiltrated the Troll city of Kasmarkin, but was imprisoned by its magicians as the city sank into the depths for hundreds of years.

In the year 758 AF, a cult called the Vigil schemed to return Pazuzu to unrightful rule, secretly using the Elemental War as their cover. They sacrificed themselves in a ritual to seemingly open the four conduits of the Elemental Realm but the released energy was used to break Pazuzu out of his Kasmarkin prison instead. The Kx'Khrah warrior Sh'Fah emerged from the Crystal Realm to battle Pazuzu but was struck down after an extended exchange in the skies. Summoned by troll drums, further Kx'krah legions descended towards Achaea in fury. The Demon Prince used his interplanar powers on the Flame of Yggdrasil to open an escape route to the paths of the World Tree and flee amongst the many planes beyond. Sartan vowed to hunt down Pazuzu as he disappeared.

The Protean relics of legend slowly vanished from place and recollection in 919 AF, gathered beyond time by demonic hand unseen. Fluctuations of memory brought adventurers to Falaq'tor, where different stories brought to Pryla'ari prompted her to reason that someone or something was tampering with Time, robbing timestream of Proteus' tools one by one.

In 922 AF when the fugitive Slith attacked followers of Babel, the attention of the combined pantheon was drawn to the outer planes where the Gods rushed to deliver him back to the Underworld. Pazuzu appeared at the crown of the World Tree in their absence, his form bedecked in divine antiques and his eyes flashing with malice. With the Yggdrasil's Seed and the Eye of Discord in his claws he reduced the unguarded Garden of the Gods to rubble and with the might of Earthshaker he shattered the eonic Tomaculan statue to free the Elder God Khalas from His imprisonment and proclaimed a new Triumvirate. These despicable acts launched the Age of Woe.

Battle raged across Creation at the behest of the self-proclaimed New God. The zenith of war brought the Gods and their followers to Black Pazuzu's stronghold on Memory, the ghostly memory of fallen Shallam. After the Prince of Woe was slain, a remnant of the relics were locked away by Prospero save two: the Golden Chain and the Diadem of Ugrach were entrusted to Slith in exchange for his cooperation in the felling of the Demon Prince.

Cyrene interred Pazuzu's remains in solemn ceremony and for this the Great Bard taught the Heart of the Vashnars the skill of Woe.

The infamous demon prince earns his place in Achaean gaming with the Pazuzu card of the Deck of Legends and a Mythos-themed battle figurine.
