The Ebon Fist was founded in 333 AF by Jupiter Dawyn as the Tanjinn. Originally a monk-class guild, they became a House in the year 394 AF and began accepting members of other classes. It was at this point in time they changed their name to The Ebon Fist.

History

The detailed beginnings and history of the Ebon Fist follow.

On the 4th of Daedalan, 333 years after the fall of the Seleucarian Empire, the Tanjinn were formed from strife and hardship and the Will of Lord Sartan, the Malevolent.

The Tanjinn's formation began a decade earlier, with the realisation of Monks inclined towards Evil that they must rally together and commit themselves further to Malevolence and Evil. To that point in time, those who would align themselves toward Evil were forced to remain rogues in the city they chose to inhabit. The order of the Daemonic Hand, led by Jupiter Dawyn and further guided by Diamondesce Seir, was created and began the recruitment of those with Malevolent intent in their hearts. Their rigorous work and steady dedication led to the founding of the Tanjinn, with Akechi Jupiter Dawyn as their leader, the Daemonic Hand. Years would pass and the mantle of leadership would be eventually given to Diamondesce Seir-Aristata.

In the year 343 AF, Lord Sartan decreed that Lord Thoth would be the patron of the Tanjinn, saying "You will serve Him as you serve Me." The custody of the Tanjinn was then given to the newly awakened Death God, Lord Thoth. Thus, the Tanjinn became not only a servant to Evil, but also to Death. Still, there were those who would remain discontent, always seeking to rise above the station given to them. Daemonic Hand Diamondesce became a follower of Thoth, one of the Qui'anar. Guild members were encouraged to join the order of Lord Thoth, since he was patron, but could also join the order of Lord Sartan. No other orders were allowed.

In the year 355 AF, the Tanjinn Guild and Tenchu were rewarded with a crystal and marble trophy for winning the 2nd division of the 2nd annual monk world tournament. The trophy still stands in the househall.

In the year 357 AF, the Tanjinn again would receive new leadership as Darknight Sioraiocht ascended to the position of the Daemonic Hand. With many of the guild laws established in previous years by the diligence of Diamondesce Seir-Aristata, Darknight seemed poised to take the guild another step further in the ranks of Mhaldor.

In the year 360 AF, Archfiend and Qui'anar Locus informs the guild that Daemonic Hand Darknight has fallen gravely ill and may die, and in his stead, Archfiend Nerav will remain in charge. One year later, Locus, Nerav, and Darknight conspire, and remove the Tanjinn from Mhaldor, claiming to be oppressed by Mhaldor and Lord Sartan, and betrayed by Diamondesce, who "struck a pact with Lord Sartan." They reject Thoth as patron, for matters of security rather than lack of worship. Diamondesce tries to take over control of the guild and remove Darknight, but she is outguilded and outcitizened, for "betrayal", along with several others. All members are encouraged, but not required, to leave Mhaldor.

Lords Sartan and Thoth quickly squash this betrayal, returning Diamondesce and all other ousted members to guild and city, and reinstating Diamondesce as guildmaster. No matter how much she toiled, Diamondesce could only repair so much of the damage that the traitorous Darknight caused.

In the year 363 AF, Diamondesce reiterates that no member may follow Indrani, and that she will never be Patron, due to various reasons including her order protecting Darknight.

In 364 AF, Diego replaces Diamondesce as Daemonic Hand. Nine years later, Diego, a Sartai, ousts Diamondesce, orderhead of Thoth, after she calls for his resignation, and removes Thoth from patronage, because he feels that Thoth lays too much claim to, and has too much power over, the guild. He appoints Sartan as patron, because he feels that the Tanjinn should follow Sartan and Evil first and foremost. There is dissatisfaction and dissention, since many, if not most, of the guild are Qui'anar. Some leave, some are ousted.

Diego announces that the Qui'anar are not to be "further persecuted" and may remain within the guild as long as they do not cause dissent among the group, and maintain servitude to Sartan and Evil.

In the year 394 AF, the Tanjinn Monks become the Ebon Fist, due to being considered the "Black Fist" of Evil, which had always been reflected in the name of their leadership clan, as well as the house shop.

Despite its tumultuous past, the Ebon Fist stands today as a shining example of devotion to Evil and Mhaldor. It has grown a great deal, particularly after the allowance of forestals within its ranks. This allows the house to serve as both the front-line ranks and the support troops for Mhaldor's continued battles against Good and its followers.

General Information

  • The house is located in the city of Mhaldor.
  • Their icon, called the Fist of Oppression, fell to a coordinated effort by Ashtan, Eleusis, and Shallam in 433 AF. It was later re-erected in 439 AF. It was destroyed again in 441 AF after repeated icon sieges on both sides by the same tri-city force. It has been re-erected once again since then.

Daemonic Hands

House Lords of the Ebon Fist are known as Daemonic Hands, and secretaries are known as Archfiends.
