The Sylvanic Fellowship is a House originally founded in 329 AF as the Sylvans guild, a fusion between Druids and Magi. Though the relationship between Nature and the Elements may be somewhat apparent to others, few, if any, delve into the deeper meanings and ultimate effects of that connection as the Sylvans strive to do.
Like their forestal brethren, the Druids and Sentinels, the Sylvans make Nature their priority in all things, and dedicate ourselves to the protection and preservation of such, knowing that it is Nature that sustains and succors all through their lives. We also recognise that even Nature has a root and a purpose, as do all things in existence; thus they strive to learn and understand the causes, effects, and meanings hidden within everything that exists.
As a House, the Sylvans have evolved from humble Druid/Magi beginnings into a unique entity all their own - strong, proud, scholarly, and wise. They do not tolerate the abuse of Nature, or the abuse of one another. We strive to expand their knowledge to the very boundaries of the world and beyond. Though fierce if provoked, they prefer to exist peacefully with others, not indulging in selfishness or greed, but with respect for all, and the understanding that we are all connected, by the Elements that form us, and the Nature that nourishes us.
History
A timeline of the Sylvans history, including relevant events.
329 AF The Sylvans Guild is founded by ex-Druid Krel, patroned by Demeter, the Green Lady. A blending of Magi and Druids, and a few Sentinels join to bring this guild to life. The Sylvans make their home in Eleusis, placing their guildhall there.
329 AF Deonymus, who was recently the Guildmaster of the Druids, left after his contestation and loss to Conor as Guild Master. Deonymus became the first Head of Novices, and brought with him the foundations of the Novice program.
333 AF Constant exterminations by Dalamar and other Mhaldorians cause a constant threat to the forest. An herb ban on Mhaldor is brought into effect from both the Sylvans and the Sentinels, and later the Druids and Oakstone. Dalamar was enemied to Mhaldor as a part of the treaty to resolve the herb ban, but only remained enemied for 4 months, before being un-enemied by Detritus. Mistral eventually takes over of Mhaldor, strips Detritus of his city powers, and re-enemies Dalamar.
337 AF The Herb Ban is lifted off of Mhaldor.
343 AF Due to a large part of the Sylvan Guild being unhappy with Her recent actions, Demeter is replaced as Patron of the Sylvans by Lord Neraeos, God of the Sea.
348 AF Exterminations rise once again throughout Sapience. The Sylvans impose a second herb ban against Mhaldor.
354 AF Ainia becomes the second Guildmaster of the Sylvans.
369 AF The first of now regular Festival of the Seas is held, in tribute to Lord Neraeos. A marble statue of Lord Neraeos was uncovered in the guild library, a fine tribute to the Lord for all He has done for the guild.
370 AF With new Mhaldor laws making it illegal for Mhaldorians to exterminate, the second herb ban from the Sylvans is lifted off of Mhaldor.
374 AF The Sylvans, Druids, and Sentinels band together in enemying all those who rob from any forestal, in hopes of deterring thieves from further stealing.
379 AF The Sylvans celebrate their 50th Anniversary.
394 AF The Sylvans Guild converts to the House of The Sylvanic Fellowship.
394 AF Being one of the first group of guilds to convert to houses, Ainia makes many dramatic changes to the structure and the programs within, to keep current with the times yet ensure the basis on which the Sylvans Guild was formed did not change.
394 AF The Sylvans change their citizenship requirements, which have been unchanged up until this point the entire time the organization has been in existance.
