The Greater Dragons played a critical role in the War of Humanity by bearing the forces of the Aldar to rescue the Gods from destruction at Nishnatoba. A noble race and unlike their lesser dragon cousins, Greater Dragons are able to cleave time-space to reach their misty, mountainous home of the Parthren Gare, created for them as their own plane of existence at the end of the Chaos Wars. Other normal mortals are unable to travel to this plane, as they are physically incapable of travelling through the fabric of reality by piercing the veil as Greater Dragons do.

The spirit of the red, black, silver, gold, blue, or green Greater Dragon is gifted to adventurers upon reaching the 99th circle of experience by Ashaxei, the white dragon of the Aldar dragonmaster Han-Tolneth. Falling below the 99th level will cause the adventurer to lose the spirit - and all benefits attributed - until the 99th level is reached again.

Aringar Claros was the first mortal to attain dragonhood, around the year 317AF. There are currently around 90 dragons in Achaea.
