This page is about the House. For other uses, please see Serpents (disambiguation).

The Naga are a House based in Mhaldor, converted from the serpent-class Guild of the same name. Their House estate is named the Spire of Torment, and resides in Mhaldor's Baelgrim Fortress.

Yig Dracrotalus (born Aeguary 12, 287 AF) was an early citizen of Mhaldor. In the year 315 AF he founded the Naga guild, an organisation dedicated to serving as the city's thieves and assassins and delighting in the suffering of the foes of Evil from the shadows.

Over the years, the Naga have worked with numerous treaties and alliances to strengthen their influence, negotiating with Hashan, the Ashura, and avoiding robbing forestals to prevent an herb ban, all at various stages of the Guild's advancement. Some negotiations would be temporary, others long-standing, depending on the desires of the Nagaraja, or Guildmaster, at the time.

In 328 AF, the Naga gained Magog, the Collector, a denizen that brought some unusual goods with him and stayed to serve the Guild. He remains there to this day.

Lord Thoth approached the Naga at one point to create a Warp Hub, which would be named Visadhara-Nilaya, similar to that in Ashtan. Though it was constructed, it was later abandoned for a series of warps across Sartan's Island.

One of the more unusual events in the Guild's history occurred in 395 AF when the then Nagaraja, Karloptimux, turned to treason and attempted a political upheaval against the Tyrannus. This was quickly quelled, and Karloptimux was cast out in disgrace.

In 396 AF, the Sundering occurred and Lord Apollyon took over the Patronship of the Guild from Lord Sartan. It was in this same year that the Guild was transformed into a House.

House leaders of the Naga are called Nagaraja (masculine) or Nagarani (feminine).
