Buffalo

Buffalo are large, fearsome ungulates with sharp horns and watery, black eyes. They have short tails which they use to flick insects away from their shaggy brown coats. The slow-moving bovine herds can be found roaming the Dardanic and Sangre Plains of Sapience, grazing on the harsh northern grasses.

The wide-horned water buffalo of Meropis appear to be distant cousins to buffalo of Sapience. Sometimes they are domesticated by the people of the Remains of Dralhu Hryre. Larger than cattle, water buffalo have ash-grey skin and can be found grazing in the long grasses beside the River Mnemosyne.

Buffalo are useful creatures to adventurers. Their hides are tough and resilient while their flesh is musky and sweet and essential to the cuisine of some restaurants. Buffalo horn is a reagent gathered for use in the milling of inks.
