Riagath is a system of caverns found at the heart of Anake's Elbow in northern Sapience, and is inhabited by several factions of trolls who seldom emerge from their underground home.

Inhabitants

The four tribes of Riagath are Sanda, Gyrog, Bagorni, and Rucktawn.

Geography

The flooded caverns of Riagath are largely split between the tribes which guard their political territories jealously against one another. The tunnels are studded with forests of phantom quartz which glitter eerily in the dimness while giant anglerfish lurk in the depths of the underground lake.

History

The trolls of Riagath are descended from refugees of Kasmarkin. Their ancestors crossed many miles in search of a new home after the doom of the ancient troll city. Crossing the mountains of Anake's Elbow, the trolls ran into ancestors of the Tsol'dasi in the jungles on the other side, a conflict which eventually escalated into full scale war and decimation of the trollkin. Retreating into the mountains, four troll families survived and adapted, establishing a rude sanctuary within the watery tunnels which they have called home for centuries since.

Morphology

The trolls of Riagath refer to adventurers as "southlanders" or "dryskins", a designation which speaks more about them than their guests. Centuries within the flooded tunnels have caused the succeeding generations to adapt unique racial traits -- such as gill slits and webbed fingers -- to survive in the watery darkness.
