Eschaton Experiment

The Eschaton Experiment was originally first conceived by Dion de Vermiis and considered to be an exercise in intellect. During the Burning Times the Ashtan and Theran cabals gathered under direction of Ezekial to perform the experiment in hopes to combat the increasing amount of persecution and outright slaughter happening to those that practiced the occult. During the apex of the ritual, while all gathered had committed their personal karma to the endeavor, both Ezekial and the experiment were lost. Deemed a failure, those occultists were left both leaderless and powerless, and a schism developed in the remaining members. Lord Luxsyth quickly preyed upon the fears and the imminent danger presented by the church and gathered as many occultists that he could to his side to research Necromancy for his mother, Belladona, while those that remained loyal and waited for Ezekial became the Keepers of the Fountainhead. Luxsyth quickly enacted his own progrom to consolidate power, eradicating the other faction and leaving only those dedicated to himself and his mother's vision of escaping death behind.

For long years the experiment was believed to be a failure, but with the help of Eris, the modern guild Occultists were able to retrieve Ezekial from the timestream and finish the great work. Casting off the corruption of Luxsyth's legacy, the Occultists returned to Occultism with the completion of the Eschaton.
