The Zarathustran eagle was the Greater Eidolon of Ashtan. It was birthed from a merger of the soul of Zarathustra and the Guardian of Chaos to mend the damaged Well of Chaos.

Zarathustran eagles were featured as charges in Ashtani heraldry and other symbolism since long before the Modern Age. Depictions of symbolic eagles bearing broken manacles have been found on hoplite armour dating from the third cycle of the Ashtan-Shallam Wars.

When Ashtan declared itself the Seat of Chaos in 691 AF, the noble bird devolved into the many-tentacled guardian abomination.
