Riding is the noble art of mounting and controlling steeds. The higher your skill level in Riding, the better you can control the more powerful of mounts and employ the various abilities of your steed.

The skill of Riding is a general skill and available to all classes.

Abilities in Riding

Mount You can mount a steed.

Details: You can ford across rivers and other watery areas upon your steed. As long as you remain on your steed, you will not be endangered of drowning.

Details: Upon issuing a high-pitched whistle, you can call one of your loyal mounts to you, so long as it is on the same continent as you. Note that this ability may only be used to call -one- mount to you. If you have multiple mounts, you will only be able to call one of them to you at a time. You can whistle for a specific mount with WHISTLE MOUNT <mount type> or WHISTLE MOUNT mount# (if you have more than one of the same type).

Details: Enrage your steed into a fury and it will attempt to intimidate another steed, sending it panicking. The success of the intimidation depends on your skill in riding and the level of your steed versus the level of the target steed and the riding skill of its rider (if mounted).

Details: Attempt to ram a mounted opponent and knock him off his steed. Be warned, however, that depending on your skill in riding and the level of your mount versus your opponent's skill in riding and level of his mount, there is a chance that you will be the one knocked off your steed. Also, if your opponent has the jousting skill and is wielding the correct weapon, he will automatically lower it and attempt to skewer you.

Details: Legend steeds are the highest class of steed available to a rider. They are extremely expensive, but to the lady or gentleman of discerning taste, there is no substitute. These steeds often go beyond the capabilities of your average horse.

Details: Similar to ram. You can attempt to joust a mounted opponent. If successful, you will knock him off his steed and viciously skewer him. You must be wielding a lance in order to joust. Be warned, however, that depending on your skill in riding and the level of your mount versus your opponent's skill in riding and level of his mount, there is a chance that you will be the one knocked off your steed and potentially skewered (for if your opponent has the jousting skill and is wielding the correct weapon, he will automatically lower it and attempt to skewer you).

Details: Whip your steed into a fury and trample the ground. Anyone who is prone in your location will be in danger of having their limbs crushed under your steed's deadly rampage. The number of limbs crushed is based partly on chance and partly on your steed's level. The amount of damage is based upon the level of your steed and number of limbs crushed.
