Gold, often referred to as gold sovereigns, is the basic unit of currency in Achaea. It is used to buy almost everything (notable exceptions include the artefacts), and can be obtained by many different means. Some of the more common ones are hunting, fishing, and doing quests.

Gold sovereigns are sometimes mixed into concoctions. After being melted down, the remaining liquid is then stirred into the rest of the mixture. Formerly, the galvanic elixir used this ingredient; however, only the restoration salve remains.
