One of the original purposes of buckets was to hold blood from the butchered corpses of adventurers, denizens, and creatures, in order to either help or hinder shrines. However, blood is no longer used to sanctify or defile shrines, as corpses can now be utilised directly. Buckets were also once used to pour blood over the falls landmark every Sarapin, in the Necromancy and Devotion users' efforts to affect its alignment in producing life essence or devotion for them, respectively.
