Steel is a commodity refined from raw iron ore and carbon. Steel is a needed material for forging armour and weapons, crafting jewellery, and has several other uses as well. Prior to the introduction of large scale adventurer mining, steel was historically bought from shops within Moghedu, Thalagor, El'Jazira, and Umbrin.
