Clockwork Isle is a manmade island of platforms and pylons that rises straight out of the Eastern Ocean, just east of Riparium. It remains unfinished, the masterpiece of an exiled inventor who died before he could see his work brought to fruition. The inventor's magically animated creations now roam the island with a life of their own, oblivious to the mysteries that underlie the isle's inner workings.

At the centre of Clockwork Isle is a massive structure known as the Great Gyre. Various platforms, chutes, and steam vents extend outward from this towering bulk of machinery, looking out onto the featureless wine-dark sea.
