A muse is seen as a source of inspiration in a particular field of expertise, most notably the arts. They are often viewed as the epitome of their fields.

Both the Garden of the Arts in Cyrene and the Temple of Scarlatti in Caer Witrin host statues in tribute to each of the traditional muses.

Scarlatti's Muses had previously taken the form of forest spirits, choosing to mimic these gentle souls of Nature, but have now returned home to His Temple. Their true names revealed to mortal kind:

  • Morraine, She of Many Hymns, the Muse of Music
  • Vivania, the Lovely, the Muse of Poetry
  • Felixande, the Giver of Pleasure, the Muse of Song
  • Kyrica, the Heavenly, the Muse of Visual Artistry
  • Sharnya, the Fair Voiced, the Muse of Storytelling
  • Honorare, the Whirler, the Muse of Dance
  • Rennibrande, the Proclaimer, the Muse of History
  • Charise, the Flourishing, the Muse of Comedy
  • Myrnma, the Spirit of Tragedy, the Muse of Tragedy
  • Ferenthal, the Radiant, the Muse of Lightweaving
