Critital hits cause more damage to denizens than normal hits do. As adventurers rise in level, they will score critical hits with more frequency.
There are five levels of critical hits. They are as follows:
- CRITICAL - 2x damage
- CRUSHING CRITICAL - 4x damage
- OBLITERATING CRITICAL - 8x damage
- ANNIHILATINGLY POWERFUL CRITICAL - 16x damage
- WORLD-SHATTERING CRITICAL - 32x damage
- PLANE-RAZING - 64x damage (only achievable with a special artefact or Psion ability)
Critical hit pendants are artefacts that not only allow adventurers the chance to score critical hits with greater frequency while hunting but also the chance of scoring harder hits in general, no matter what their levels of experience. These pendants, in order of effectiveness from least to greatest, are the fire pendant, blood pendant, and Stygian pendant. All three can be purchased from Merentesh's artefact shop in Delos.
Other things which might increase frequency or strength of one's critical hits include:
- Being Human
- Lucky trait
- Lucky elixir
- The Emulation Guidedstrike ability
- The Terminus Trusad ability
- Crystal clover artefact
- Chocolates from an aromatic velvet pouch artefact
- Crucious paragon artefact
