The Thousandth Door came into being during the time of the Eternal Night. In an attempt to reach Tavarius inside his shield of energy, the wizard Hycanthus commissioned two mirrors from the glassblowers of Thera to be used in a ritual.
However, during the ritual, a single snowflake drifted between the two mirrors, marring the image. Instead of creating a doorway past the shield of energy that surrounded Tavarius, the result was the creation of a doorway that randomly led to everywhere in Sapience.
It played an important role in ending the Eternal Night. Since then, adventurers have seen it appearing and disappearing at a variety of locations on Sapience.
