Ratiph was the Sylvan father of Thriaf and the husband of a dryad. He lived for many years in mainland Sapience, but after his wife was killed in a wildfire, he moved with young Thriaf to the isle of Ulangi, so that the young one might gain a fresh start on the world. Years later, as a young man, Thriaf had become prone to blacking out and lighting the forest afire in times of stress. It was during one of these elemental outbursts that Ratiph perished.
Later on, Thriaf himself passed away in one of his own wildfires, and Ratiph was buried alongside his son in Ratiph's former grove, in the cloud forest of Ulangi.
