Gargoyles are winged monsters made from stone. Gargoyle mounts can be found for sale in the Underground Forest in the lower level of Azdun.

During Chronos, 391, some adventurers heard echoes of strange whispers. Their explorations took them to the crypts of Azdun where they found a gargoyle who spun a fantastical tale of being an atavian trapped in this monstrous form by a shaman. The adventurers quickly took sides, either gathering atavian corpses for the gargoyle or aiding the atavian shaman from Genji, who aimed to create a salve to destroy the creature.

When the rogue gargoyle received the final corpse needed to break the curse, his true nature was shown and this monstrous creature escaped to the skies. Parties of adventurers formed to slay the great beast but in the end, after thirty-four announcements on deathsight, it was the dragon Garth who single handedly put an end to the savagery.
