Hectan is an elderly Tsol'aa gifted in the craft of paper making. Originally a resident of the village located in the Aalen Forest, he was forced to leave it behind as the ocean dampness was painful to his arthritic joints. To remind him of his former home he wears only one ornament upon his person, a hair pin with an attached wooden butterfly painted to resemble one of the morning cloak, a species native to the Aalen.
