The Shandon River springs from an aquafier within the hills of Minos. The island's primary source of freshwater, the years of the river's passage have carved a deep gorge along its path past the village of Milena to the sea. Perched on the bluffs of the other side the narrow Onyx Needle rises stark against the Minoan sky.
