Oldion, a shrewd-looking merchant, can be found peddling his wares from the clamorous marketplace of Zanzibaar. Seemingly the owner of a majority of the stalls in this busy island bazaar, including one displaying exotic mounts as its merchandise, Oldion is a heavyset man bedecked with gold-accented attire; even his walking stick is of gold.

Oldion's Wares

Scroll of handmade paper - 300gp
Made by hand from the pulp of a variety of plant materials, this scroll bears a slightly green hue and is flecked with larger leaves and flower petals. The edges are uneven, contributing to its uniqueness, and the entire scroll curls slightly along the top and bottom borders.
Manuscript crafted of natural materials - 7500gp
Bound with a thin panel of teakwood, this manuscript is filled with pages of handmade paper in varying hues from warm beige to pale green. A pressed hibiscus flower is affixed to the smooth wooden cover, framed by four small twigs from some local tree.
Roughly carved wooden bowl - 200gp
Knots and folds of rough bark make up the exterior of this dark brown bowl, while the interior has been chiselled and sanded down to perfect smoothness. A tangy and familiar smell emits from the wood, reminiscent of the jungles of the Zanzibaar island chain, where forests of nutmeg trees cover the land as far as the eye can see. The bowl is roughly circular, with a slight ellipse across one edge, and fits neatly in the palms of both hands. Although the exterior bark flakes off occasionally, this vessel will nevertheless provide many years of fine service.
Finely whittled wooden flute - 5000gp
Crafted from the supple wood of the palm trees that surround Zanzibaar, this wooden flute is a deep golden colour, marred by an occasional brown knot. Whittled into a delicate tube and expertly drilled by a master, the instrument gives a beautifully hollow sound when in the hands of an experienced player.
Rough wooden pipe - 150gp
The strong wood from Zanzibaar's famous nutmeg trees has been crafted into a rough pipe, the texture and spicy aroma of the material giving the object an appealing aura. The delicate taste of nutmeg still lingers on the handle, and can be picked out even amongst the strong fumes of the herbs being smoked within.
Journal covered with woven palm fronds - 6000gp
Thin strips of palm fronds have been woven together in a criss-cross pattern and folded over the stiff wooden cover of this journal. Within is a sheaf of mixed papers, handmade and flecked with bits of plant material, each page unique with its imperfections and discolourings.
Lightweight pot of palm wood - 50gp
Crafted from the palm trees of Zanzibaar, this pot is both a sturdy and elegant vessel. The unusual wood has been shaped and carved into a deep circular vessel that is both lightweight and comfortable to hold. Rimmed edges prevent the contents spilling over, the polished golden wood giving the pot a clean and shiny appearance.
