Batlin Karrella

Batlin Karrella, Lord of Sangre Keep, was an arrogrant and cruel man generally despised by the Petran villagers.

The Baron disappeared mysteriously, his whereabouts unknown following the discovery of overwhelming evidence of his guilt in the murder of Marita Corten and Vodun-like control over her son Aaron, whom the Baron had first accused for the crime. The Petrans declared their independence from the Baron and all was quiet for a time.

Some years later Batlin Karrella was discovered by Atlantia amongst the ranks of the Ivory Mark. The princess called for justice upon Karella immediately, and the call was answered by Shallam who sent a member of the Order of Miramar to adjudicate and administer punishment for the former Baron's earlier crimes. A fine was levied, and, with the help of the mysterious Sarranda du Luiois, Karella was surprisingly welcomed back to Petra and reinstated as its baron.

News that the Baron was to wed Sarranda shocked the world not long after, with Ashtan responding quickly with a small force of arms against him and his bride. The Baron was killed in the conflict, leaving behind Sarranda to claim the barony behind the fortified walls of the Sangre Keep.
