Viewing glass

A Shop of Wonders artefact, the Viewing glass comes in two varieties: greater and lesser. The lesser form is a silver hoop on a mahogany handle, and fitted with a mist-clouded lens of fragile glass, while the greater variety replaces the wooden handle with one of silver, and the silver hoop with mithril.

The purpose of the viewing glass is to allow one to look at the appearance of an adventurer from afar, with the lesser version allowing one to see the physical appearance of the distant adventurer, and the greater giving the additional ability to see what the adventurer is wearing. However, it is not possible to see any suppressed artefacts the adventurer may be wearing, nor is it possible to see an adventurer who is wearing the Veil of the Sphinx unless the viewer is also wearing a magical veil.
