A metal crank pokes out of one side, waiting to be turned to wind the mechanisms. Beneath the hinged lid, a lovely miniature wooden Atavian figure is poised on its toes inside the box. There is a small slot where a small music scroll with punched-in holes can be fed over and around a barely-visible spool to produce a tune by running over a thin metal comb inside, hooked to other mechanisms. A slip of paper glued to the inside cover instructs one to first put a specially-made music scroll in the box, then to TURN the crank on the BOX.
