Paincatcher is a defensive relic forged by Proteus in ancient times. It is a round, spiked shield composed of an unknown grey metal. Deeply etched, alien runes adorn its concave interior surface. When borne by an adventurer, the shield absorbs some incoming damage, reflecting some of that damage back upon the attacker.
