Demeter, Goddess of the Wildwood, was also known as the Queen of the Sacred Grove. She was created as a Celani by Gaia to guide and nurture the nine forest spirits. As the creation of the forests progressed, Demeter was nearly a Goddess in her own right when an elemental imbalance threatened to destroy the forests. Gaia came to Demeter and asked for her help. Demeter agreed to protect that which she loved and held sacred she sacrificed much of her essence to aid Gaia. Gaia was able to destroy the threat to the forests. However the Celani Demeter was weakened, she was able to us the last little bit of essence she had remaining to sleep, and she drifted off into peaceful slumber to dream of her former realm.

Originally a Celani tasked by Gaia to guide and nurture the nine forest spirits, She nearly became a Goddess in Her own right as the forests flourished. When an elemental imbalance threatened the forests, Gaia approached Demeter for aide in saving them. Demeter agreed, sacrificing most of Her essence to aid Gaia in destroying the threat to Her beloved forests. Weakened, the Celani was forced into a deep slumber in an attempt to recover, hidden in the depths of the forests She once protected.

After the disappearance and departure of the Earthmother, Demeter felt a stirring in her dreams that would begin to awaken the sleeping Celani. Through a ritual, those who loved the forests were able to capture her essence into a silver mist and bind it to the nine forest spirits She once helped to grow. The greater forest spirit, birthed from the nine, was called to her, and from this union, the forgotten Celani Demeter awakened as a Goddess, to protect and oversee the forests she cherished. However, from before Her birth, She had been tainted by an insidious being called the Wyrm of Worlds, once imprisoned by Gaia. It would eventually overcome and possess Demeter, taking over Her form and imprisoning Her weakened soul in the netherworld from whence he came.
After the disappearance and departure of the Earthmother, Demeter felt a stirring in Her dreams. A ritual enacted by those who loved the forests summoned a bit of Her essence as a silvery mist and bound it to the nine forest spirits She once helped nurture. The nine spirits worked together, crafting the essence into a greater forest spirit Eupheme. The newly born spirit called out to the forgotten Celani, awaking Her as a Goddess to protect and oversee the forests once again.

She was imprisoned by the Wyrm of Worlds, who She later defeated after mortals helped to free her. At this time, She transformed into Melantha, the Goddess of the Seasons.
However, during Her aeons long slumber Demeter had fallen prey to the vile Wyrm of Worlds. Once imprisoned by Gaia, with Haia's passing he found himself free again, and fell upon the sleeping Celani and wound himself into Her essence. It would eventually overcome and possess Demeter, taking over Her form and imprisoning Her weakened soul in the Netherworld from whence he came.

Eventually freed by mortals, She returned and battled the demon, defeating it. The harrowing experience changed Her so much, altering Her on such a fundamental level that She ceased to be Demeter and became Melantha, the Goddess of the Seasons.

Her temple rests in the Aerinewild forest.
