Rare minerals are scarce minerals with various properties extracted as a byproduct of lode mining, rather than through alchemical processes. Whether they are formed from geologic processes is up for debate, but most are rumoured to be pieces of the destroyed planetoids Somnustra, Lunastra, and Noxtra. When mining was introduced to adventurers in 688, the first miners to discover these rare minerals named them after themselves.
