Rare minerals are scarce minerals extracted as a byproduct of lode mining, rather than through transmutative processes, and have various properties. Whether they are formed from geologic activity is up for debate, but most are rumoured to be pieces of the destroyed planetoids Somnustra, Lunastra, and Noxtra. When mining was introduced to adventurers in 688 AF, the first miners to discover these rare minerals named them after themselves.
The rarest mineral, Ayardium, is a resetting consumable which conveys a random effect from one of the rare minerals.
