The Tournament of Blades was an annual festival in Ashtan during the time of the Seleucarian Empire. Featuring mock battles, skill competitions and jousting, the climax of the tournament was found in the individual duels. It was in this competition that Catarin deSangre used the famed Sentaari staff style to defeat Lord Odysseus Rani. She then won the support of the city preceding the second War of Succession.
The Tournament has been resurrected by the current populace of Ashtan, organised roughly once every few years to test martial strength and combat prowess. Many times the Tournament stretches on as combatants wait to finish their duels.
