Those inflicted with disfigurement become so hideous that even their formerly loyal entities or mounts turn against them. Only Baalzadeens and Guardian Angels are immune against such disloyalty, possibly because the strength of the bond between adventurers and them transcends that of physical recognition. Disfigurement is caused by the venom monkshood and may be cured by smoking valerian.
