Lesser dragons are those dragons without the ability to cleave realm-space and reach the plane known as the Parthren Gare like their Greater Dragon cousins.
Several lesser dragons originated from the fallen sun Ethian. With their home destroyed during the Morning Star cataclysm, several dragons found themselves deposited upon Sapience.
