I came upon him thus, his head bowed low,<br>
Naught but a pained sigh to greet my hello.<br>
Then tears filled his eyes and dripped from his chin,<br>
And I took a seat to listen to him.<br>
"I did love her so. He took her you see.<br>
Fircil, the elder, of the Beduri.<br>
Enslaved for pleasure, she suffers alone.<br>
Enslaved by love, I suffer the unknown."<br>
Rising from my seat, I passed him a note.<br>
Then took my leave as he read what she wrote.<br>
Walking to the ferry, I grinned with pride,<br>
as Rathen shouted, "My Carla's alive!"<br>
And so I leave him thus, his head held high,<br>
The lonely lover with hope by his side.<br>
