A Tormented was caught one day
Flirting with a lady knight
He forgot the rule, "No PDA,"
His tale I'll now indite.

He was brought before a Dreadborn
And flogged nearly to the bone,
His mentor, with staid face adorned,
Said in a displeased tone,

"Ignorance is no excuse,
and stupidity's a crime;
They who practice thus are mere refuse
Destroyed by our Divine."

The novice learned from his mistake
And was sent back on his way
Determined not to again make
The error he made that day.

One eve, he came to Mhaldor, home,
(From his travels, he was weary)
And as towards Pestilent Way he roamed,
He saw a sight that was quite eerie.

Hitting the ground with a sickening 'thud',
The Dreadborn howled and wept.
As her master's whip brought forth blood,
The Seven Truths she clept.

Her mentor looked at her with disgust,
Which softened to disdain;
Two score more the whip did thrust,
'Fore he left her there in pain.

The novice knelt down by her side,
And stroked her in consolation,
Then a most disgruntling sob she cried,
And she rose up in frustration.

"Fool! Don't pity me one bit," she coughed,
"For I deserved that whip!
When you're disciplined, you're better off
Than if they had let it slip.

"Stupidity is contageous, you know,
It is weakness incarnated,
And like a weed, will spread and grow,
'Till you have it amputated."

The novice stared at her in marvel,
As his mentor went on to speak,
"To this words, you listen well,
Lest you also become weak.

"Forgiveness is heretical,
It in itself's a sin,
And therefore hypocritical,
Thus, should be forgotten.

"When you overlook someone's faults,
In prayer for miraculous change,
All progress for them quickly halts,
And their own downfall they arrange."

All crimes must be paid for,
And illness must be cured.
Such is the law of Mhaldor,
Let no one go unassured.
