Trenton Deis was a cold-hearted assassin hired by Castomira Brangwin to kill both Lucaine Pyramides and Catarin deSangre around the Wars of Succession. Lucaine and Trenton first met face to face at the Battle of Beggar's Arch. Lucaine defeated him in single combat and, seeing Deis unfit for a warrior's death, denied him his blade and instead condemned him to a death upon the gallows the following dawn. Deis escaped his jailers, and his contract upon the young Kasharian swordsman became a personal vendetta.

Deis later encountered Lucaine, unarmed, as the mercenary was writing the last of his love poems to Catarin. He first broke Pyramides' sword, then blinded him, and finally called upon his underlings hiding in the surrounding area to pierce Lucaine with spears. Whether he burned Pyramides alive or Pyramides himself summoned arcane flames is unknown, but what is known is that by the end of the affair, he was dead by Trenton's hands.
