Ortho was a low-ranking member in the horkvali military of Kr'kach. Tasked with spying on Himalia, he eventually fell in love with her and refused to betray her or the secret of her sceptre fragment to his superiors.

He was executed for his crimes, but his dying sacrifice and oath led to the creation of the grook race.
