The War

Once upon a cold Sarapin day,

I noticed a Dwarf coming my way.

This Dwarf was clad in armour of gold,

And said he had a story that must be told.

So I settled down to here him talk

About a difficult path he had to walk.

He told of a war, fierce and long.

He told of enemies, cunning and strong.

This Dwarven companion of mine

Started with the tale with a raid by the Church aligned

Upon a library of numerous books

Holding the ways of Chaos for all to look.

The library fell in a smoldering heap,

But the agents of Chaos did not weep.

They summoned their entities from the Chaos plane.

Let those foolish raiders fall like the rain.

Into battle their legions did stride,

Causing many to run and hide.

Yet the forces of Good would not be in shame.

They raided Ashtan to even the game.

Ashtan was now consumed with anger,

Becoming then a Bastion of Danger.

War upon Shallam they did declare,

Amid arrows and bombs flying through the air.

Angels and Devotion would now meet

Chaos entities at their master's feet.

Paladins and Infernals battling sword to sword.

City against city, horde against horde.

The forces of Good put up a valiant fight.

Yet their courageous spirit was lacking in might.

Might Ashtan pushed them into Shallam's walls,

Sending soldier and citizen to Lady Maya's halls.

For four long years the battles burned,

Until at last a victory was earned.

Shallam bowed down to Ashtan's might

And paid a golden tribute to end the fight.

My companion's story was now at a close,

So off the ground we both rose.

He gave me a final good-bye

And strode towards the setting sun, a tear in his eye.
