To far off land I cast my sight

(Inspired by the statue of Maran La'Saen in Shallam and performed on the
From torpid desert, listless light
occasion of the 300th Anniversary of Lord Pentharian's ascension.)
Did fall and wane and tremble still

This iron heart, this iron will
"Speak always with truth, justice, and mercy"
That stands with triumph at the head
The powerful voice of our High Priest.
At Peshwar's mouth, in Sapience stead
Seldom clothed in Basilican shadows,
Was cursed, called and fell replete
Waxen pale, he faces east.
With glory, streaming, golden heat
Beneath its soaring spires and angels,
Alas, fair city, perfect jewel
Creation's marble Seraph stands
A soul of silver, clean and cruel
Beside the Zaphar river wild,
Will cut with haste, pull down the shroud
A gleaming mace proud in his hands.
Of darkened mountain, screamed aloud

Oh Shallam, lo, thy name is blessed!
Falling on his gold-veined cheek,
To rise above, to be professed!
A single braid, carved unique.
With light and love strike down the hate
His eyes with grace and wisdom speak,
The streameth now from Mhaldor's gate
"Noble Vizier, your Virtue keep."
And purify the land of blood

The weeps from wounds in poisoned mud
Patriarch of Angels serene,
Where sword had pierced the tainted hide
Two score years, he served the Guild.
Cast down Shaitan, in darkness blind
How could this marble, fair figurine
To fall beneath the waves of time
Begin to hold his wisdom distilled.
Be kissed by silence, frozen rime
Sultan gracious, Shallam united,
And always standing, flaming domes
Crown of Ithmia's ally became.
Will steal the sunlight, warrior's home
Jewel of the East, you shone not blighted
The ever rising Jewel of the East
By turmoil and treason, under his name.
In the name of Good, an endless feast

Sahart's legacy, you'll uphold,
The northern heretics will fold,
Darkness and Evil gain no foothold,
This La'Saen's legacy, lasting two-fold.

Such greatness could not linger here,
The Prime Material Plane too small.
His destiny, grasped with no fear:
To Lord Deucalion went his bold call.
On churning clouds, Maran's spirit rises.
No sermon but this could teach us why
Divine limitations defy sacrifices.
Face twisting in sorrow, His tears fill the sky.

A final gasp, the priest's death betrays,
Below that moon's malevolent phase
Attracting One's benevolent gaze
Whose ears received the sound, in praise.

Boiling earth and seas, then peace.
Balance and Twilight shed Their essence
To one for whom life had to cease.
Ourania blessed him with iridescence;
The ultimate favour, no truer be.
Creation summed could not match the roar
That heralded fair the Logos' decree:
Deserving, He'll rouse as Maran no more.

Though this Divine is born of none,
The Father of Lies will call Him son.
Thus with His golden reign begun,
Pentharian, the Righteous, arise!

Imbued with mortal memories clear,
Bathed in soft Cerulean light,
The fire of goodness within His stare,
The essence of Valour within mortal sight.
Hearest Thee the sound of rejoicing?
Elysia welcomes their new Father home,
Praises and worship each paladin voicing,
Prayers for His ears in every priest's tome.

Forget we not his legacy mortal,
For Honour lives in each Shallam heart.
This statue graven is Maran immortal;
Immortal Pentharian, his fate from the start.
