A visitor, that's all he was, But his location gave them cause To grab him up and lock him tight Inside a cell, for many nights. Every evening came new screams That came to haunt his darkened dreams. Scalpel slices, needle pricks, Drawing blood, making him sick. Tied and forced to watch his wife Split open with a carving knife. His captors then, with bloody hands Daily beat the 'prisoned man. Slowly, his sanity began to wane. His fellows vanished every day. Screams and gurgles from the room Where the iron maiden granted doom. His turn was approaching fast. For another month he would not last. Darkness fell, his night had come. The windows barred, he could not run. The nurses pushed a gurney by And brought a sheet under which he'd lie. But then, up from the lower floors Came dying shrieks and vic'try's roars. After a bit, a gleaming light Flickered off a sword's blade bright As an armoured man came down the hall. His steel-cased foot broke door from wall. The prisoner staggered out from his cell Until his knees gave and he fell. Onto a table, he felt himself move And a sheet over his body drew Just before the gurney rolled Toward the captors. His blood ran cold. They poked the blanket and then they cried As the armoured man brought them demise. All through the night in Creville's halls He rode the gurney through battle's squalls. After some time, the air grew warm, Freshened by a soft spring morn. Off came the sheet, and off he ran, Free again, off into the lands.
