The seamark of a harbour acts as a geographic marker between a ship and a harbour. Sailors can use a nautical map stored in a cartographer's desk to gauge the rough distance and direction from their ship to the seamark. When within a close enough proximity, a sailor can use a spyglass to glean more information about the harbour as well.
