Propagation is a skill possessed by members of the Sylvan class. It allows practitioners to summon the very thorns and vines of the earth to envelop their bodies, transforming them into the mighty Viridian. Through their Viridian form, Sylvans can further alter their herbaceous structure, incorporating various herbs upon their body to grant specific beneficial effects.

Abilities in Propagation

Details:

Meaning 'green' in an ancient language, a Viridian is a living, walking embodiment of the flora of the land. Upon casting this spell, you will quickly transform into one as thorny vines cover your body and burrow into your flesh. You will become stronger, able to endure more damage, and gain a protective bonus to physical damage done to you however your movements will be slightly hampered.

HUMAN will allow you to change back into your normal form. Be aware that remaining in this form is a constant drain on your willpower.

  • STAFF option may be added to allow transformation into the mighty Viridian in areas that are not normally conducive to plant growth.
Thornrend Rend your foes with your lethal vines.
Syntax: SECRETE SAP
THORNREND <target>

Details:

You may now lash the flesh of your foes with your thorny vines, doing damage.

If you have learned the TARGETING ability in Weaponry, you may optionally direct your thornrend at a specific body part, causing additional damage to an arm, leg, or the head or torso of your opponent.

If you have gained the ENVENOM ability in Weaponry then you may envenom your arms, which will deliver a venom to your target when you thornrend. Otherwise, you may SECRETE SAP to coat your arms in a single application.

Details:

This is the core of the propagator's strategy. While in viridian form, you are able to propagate one of either your head, body, arms, or legs with a plant. As you progress in propagation, you will learn to utilise more plants in this way. Each plant conveys a different benefit depending on the location you grow it. Returning to human form will remove all of your propagations.

Bloodroot One of the most widely used herbs.

Head: Increased asphyxiation resistance.
Body: Allows for breathing underwater.
Arms: Your thornrends will additionally deliver the healthleech affliction.
Legs: Assuming you can already walk on water, move more quickly through watery environments.
Bellwort A flower with mysterious properties.

Body: Immunity to the peace affliction.
Arms: Your thornrend attacks will additionally deliver the weariness affliction.

You will now be capable of lacerating a target's throat, slashing vocal cords and causing great pain.

Valerian A plant that grows in mountainous areas.

Details:

When propagated, this plant conveys the following bonuses:

Head: Increased psychic resistance.
Body: Reduces the mana cost of clotting your wounds.
Arms: Your thornrends will additionally deliver the slickness affliction.
Legs: Move more quickly through mountainous areas.
Lobelia A brightly coloured plant used to cure phobias.

Head: You are less likely to fall prey to the muddling effects of the stupidity affliction.
Body: You will be immune to fear effects from phobia afflictions.
Arms: Your thornrend attacks will additionally deliver the loneliness affliction.

Elm A potent herb with limited applications.

Sileris A berry that grows in various valleys.

Head: You will recover more quickly from sipping the immunity elixir.
Body: Increased resistance to poison damage.
Arms: Your thornrend attack will deal blunt damage, instead of magical.
Legs: You are less likely to slip on icy ground.
Vinewreathe Call upon Nature to hinder your foe.
Syntax: VINEWREATHE <target>

Details:

Calling upon Nature, you may summon a mass of animated vines to hinder your target for a time, preventing any attempts they make to parry your thornrends.

Kola A small nut with surprising potency.
Works on/against: Self

When propagated, this plant conveys the following bonuses:

Head: Maintaining the metawake defence will cost less mana and willpower.
Body: Awaken swiftly as if you had the kola defence.
Arms: Your thornrend attack will secrete a sap that will attempt to put your target to sleep.
Legs: Move faster through jungles and valleys.
Multiplication Greater control over the viridian.

You have reached a point in your training where you are able to propagate three of the four possible locations simultaneously.

Barkskin Make your skin tough like bark.
Syntax: BARKSKIN

Details:

This ability will cause your skin to become as bark, providing an increased measure of protection vs. attacks doing physical damage.

Goldenseal A plant that affects the mind.

When propagated, this plant conveys the following bonuses:

Head: Increased willpower regeneration.
Body: Increased mana regeneration.
Arms: Your thornrend attacks will additionally deliver epilepsy.
Legs: Move faster through grasslands.
Skullcap A plant that grows in the harsher environments.

Head: You will be able to see when adventurers fall in battle as if you had the deathsight defence.
Body: You will recover more quickly from smoking the skullcap plant.
Arms: Your thornrend attacks will strip the aura of rebounding defence.
Legs: Move more swiftly through deserts.
Eclipse Bedazzle your foe with a celestial bolt.
Syntax: ECLIPSE <target>

Details:

Calling upon the vast brilliance of sky-bound celestial bodies, you may overwhelm a target's senses. Unless they are sufficiently restrained, your victim may evade the effects of the spell.

Hawthorn A plant that grows in hilly locations.

Details:

When propagated, this plant conveys the following bonuses:

Head: You can hear people shouting, even when deaf.
Body: When eating the hawthorn plant, you will gain the deafness defence faster than usual.
Arms: Your thornrend attack will deliver the sensitivity affliction if deafness is not present; otherwise it shall strip the deafness defence.
Legs: Move faster through hilly locations.
Heartseed Send Nature's touch to destroy your enemy from within.
Syntax: HEARTSEED <target>

Details:

Among the most dangerous and forbidden of a sylvan's spells, the Heartseed embodies Nature at its most baneful. Draining your victim's vitality to speed its growth, the germination of a Heartseed will rapidly end the life of he or she whom it is sent to plague.

If your victim manages to avoid their fate and cure the heartseed, their body will be wracked by the process, causing them significant damage for each injured limb they suffer from. -
