Poems of Devotion: Ourania

Moon Senryu

Piercing the Dark

Bringing life to nothingness

Mother of the night

As Youthful Maiden

She grows unto full power

Bringing the world Hope

As Fruitful Matron

She pours forth her great power

Enlightening us

As the Crone, Urdu

She falls into timelessness

In darkness she sleeps

Sonnet of Her Visages

The Maiden, fierce, defends her mortal charge

Her Moonbow nocked and trained upon her mark

No prey for long remains to her at large

Her light reveals dissenters in the dark

The Loving Matron teaches all she knows

Illuminating those who walk the path

A loving One, Whose heart with caring glows

Woe be to those who'd instigate Her Wrath

The Crone is wise beyond the years of man

Many mysteries hide behind her veil

Unlock her secrets? Try all that you can

Your efforts surely will do naught but fail

Darkness will reign when She hides from our sight

Be not afraid, but contemplate the night

The Moon's Dance

Upon a canvas, painted black

Behind a shadowed cloud she waits

The night her veil

The stars her crown

A mystery unsolved by man

The Hidden Moon, and Her hidden light

Brings hope to mortals in the night

And from the darkness, with endless grace

A Maiden bounds from her hidden home

With Bow in hand

And eternal youth

Skuld, the Eternal Maiden smiles

The Waxing Moon, and all Her light

Brings solace to mortals in the night

And once the Maiden comes of age

A new face she takes on, graciously

The present weaved

By Her very hand

Verthandi, the Matron, cares for us all

The Full Moon and all Her light

Brings love to mortals, in the night

With age the Matron's wisdom peaks

And the spell of time works on Her bones

The past she tells

As she slowly falls

Urdu, the Crone foretells the end

The Waning Moon and all Her light

Brings peace to mortals, in the night
