New Year's Day, Cyrene

It's New Year's Day and in Cyrene,
A concert at the Dancing Boar!
Poets recite, musicians play,
And dancers whirl across the floor,
A storyteller spins a tale,
And, of course, there are songs galore.

Sometimes a jester does a skit
That has us rolling in the aisles,
Or else a ribald bawdy ballad
Fills us all with smirking smiles
As we are told of some poor soul,
Fell victim to a siren's wiles.

An instrumental on the harp
Can move us with its haunting chords
That bring to mind a horse's race,
A river's flow, or clashing swords.
Or we might learn the history
Of satyrs, or of chaos lords,

Or of Seleucar, so long lost,
Or Thera, still so fresh a scar,
Or see Selene's birth in dance.
So come, no matter where you are,
Today's the first of Sarapin,
The Dancing Boar is not too far!

It's New Year's Day and in Cyrene,
A concert, and completely free!
The Maestro's calling people now--
You can hunt later, come and see
The talent Ty Beirdd has to show
And relax with an ale or three.

The brewery's just down the road,
Dianthe sells her food right here,
And wine, so there is no excuse
For those of you who don't like beer.
Fill up your stomach, grab a seat,
This only happens once a year.

The crowd is milling, people wait,
The air has an expectant thrum.
Those here greet those arriving, or
Are waiting for their friends to come.
So many folk already, yet
There's still room for another one.

So portal, fly, warp, Universe
Where'er in Sapience you are,
Pilgrimage or be delivered,
Prism, or hire Thomas's car
Today's the first of Sarapin,
The Dancing Boar is not too far!
Come and catch a rising star!
