Melpomene is the Spirit of the Black Forest.
Robed in boughs of evergreen, Melpomene, Spirit of the Black Forest, was as unique as the creatures who make their home in the forest she protected. Over the years, she saw her trees suffer many holocaust attacks and exterminations, yet this forest spirit endured with strength and poise. When Gaia returned, she discharged her from the guardianship of the Black Forest, allowing the spirit to deliquesce and become whole with Nature once more.

She is also known in the Arts as Melpomene the Muse of Tragedy.
