My eyes gaze across the gathered forces of My children. The sight of them fills
me with both pride and sorrow. The clink of armour, the sharpening of blades,
and the shouting of orders fills the air.

Slowly, I walk among them. I speak to some, give others a simple nod, and
consult with the leaders amongst them. From far off I hear the thunder of
marching feet as the enemy forces begin their advance.

My children and I turn as one, to face the eastern horizon from which the enemy
horde marches. I look across the fields at each of My Mine, blessing them with
what protection I may give.

At a signal from my Brother, Aegis, I order My Dwarves to charge. Running beside
them, my heart fills with pride and sorrow as I hear them shout out as one. "For
the Dwarf Father, we fight!"

I know that over the coming days, many of them will be sent to the
realms of the dead, overseen by My Brother, Thoth. Each death will be like I'm
losing part of myself. But for My children I shall stand strong and fight beside
them.

I am Phaestus the Smith, Father of the Dwarves, and today I march alongside my
Children to war.
