"It is never coming back.." A soft shudder ripples through the young woman at the thought. A quick glance around reveals little of the oppressively dark, damp cave she had taken refuge in. "Oppressive.." She repeats to herself aloud as a humorless smile lifts her lips.

She shakes herself visibly before closing her eyes to focus inward. Her inner eye searches out her reserves of Devotion to reveal the almost extinguished light. So low.. so weak.. with a light dulled from excommunications. She would find no relief, having spent years searching for a new source to fuel her gifts.. but none but Light and Fire would have answered, and her connection was severed.

"No.. no, this can't be over.." She whispers, a slight panic filling her as she drops her mace and hugs herself. A gentle light illuminates the cave as her Guardian pushes out the darkness.

Calm.. Only a thought. Gentle.. soothing.. was it her own? She glances at her guardian to see it watching her. Calm.

That light.. mesmerising.. but her Guardian's whisper held a sad note to it. Why would it be sad..?

The Guardian slowly drifts closer to the priestess, ex-priestess, as embraces her.

"The light.. it.. it burns. It hurts! Gods! MAKE IT STOP!" The Priestess screams as the vestiges of her devotion, her connection to the elements, her connection to the Divine, severs. A snapping sensation runs through her body, like a tightly held cord snipped in the middle, and the light filling the cave vanishes with an abrupt finality.

Several hours pass before the woman awakens, her body aching from the forceful ejection of her power. A memory of a soft voice comes to her mind as she pushes herself to her feet, feeling weak and empty, It is never coming back.
