It was a stormy evening at the starting of this tale.

Out by the lighthouse he did stand furling his small boat's sail.

The wind picked up and the poor man drew fast and locked his door,

But down below something was scratching through his basement floor.

He smiled as he hugged his son, his daughter close behind.

Then through the barren entryway he did step to find

His wife had made his favorite meal. The perfectly cooked meat's

Aroma floated to the cellar, enticing the thing to eat.

The food was impeccable, and worn out from the day

To his bed with heavy eyes he did make his way.

As his body hit the sheets, he drifted off to sleep

While from the dampened basement the creature began to creep.

Awaking with a start deep in the dead of night,

He sat up in a cold sweat. He knew something wasn't right.

Silently down the steps he walked. The scene that met his eyes

Was a foul scrag eating loudly, bringer of his family's demise.

Bursting through the lighthouse door the grieving man did fly

And the brave citizens of Cyrene clearly heard his anguished cry.

A mighty warrior crossed the Muurn in gleaming mail and helm,

Then sent the thing to its new home deep inside Lord Thoth's realm.

The poor man never left Cyrene. Too broken was his heart

For any ladies who admired him. No new family did he start.

The lighthouse now stands overrun, and if you the foul scrags brave

You'll earn thanks from old Biagio, digger of his loved ones' graves.
