A beautiful former blackjack dealer of [[Shallam]], '''Laura''' was known for taking angry gamblers' insults personally. It was after on such insult that she departed the Jewel of the East, returning later to launch a campaign to restore niceness, gentility, and a happy frivolity of the so-called golden years. When her movement ultimately failed, Laura attempted to overthrow the government of Shallam with a small force of conscripts, which was quickly smashed before Laura herself was banished from the city, never to be seen again.
