The Crystalline Circle was founded as the Magi in 254 AF by Taranis, born Daedalan 21, 184 AF. Once a notable druid, Taranis left the guild and became a prominent citizen of Shallam, serving as advisor to the Sultan. In the year 254 AF, he found the Crystal Caverns and rediscovered knowledge of the Magi. He utilised these newfound skills to found the guild.

In 396 AF, the Magi became a House, at which point they changed their name to the Crystalline Circle. Until the year 407 AF, they had solely allowed Magi-classed members; however, during that year they began to allow both Sylvan and Priest members as well. Originally a Triumvirate, a referendum was passed in the year 438 AF (by a count of 24 in favour and 2 against) in which the members decided to make the change to an Autocracy.

Though they at one time allowed several non-Elementalist classes, this policy has since been rescinded. As of the year 466 A.F., the only non-Elementalist class accepted by the Crystalline Circle was Runewarden; eventually they were also struck from the list of accepted classes, allowing only Magi, Sylvan and Priests (who use the elements to heal) to join their ranks.

They are located in the city of Shallam and strive for the ideals of Good, Order, and Unselfishness.

The House tutor of the Circle is Ariela the Wise.

Their icon, the Crystal Mirror, fell in the year 419 A.F.
