There's a problem in the river
And Achaea's all a-shiver
There's nothing like it that we've seen before.

The beds are filled with sludge
That we simply cannot budge
And if that's not bad enough, there's plenty more.

The fish are being killed
Their fins forever stilled
And their bodies carry on the evil taint.

Touch contamination
Sets you up for swift invasion
With symptoms that can make the strongest faint.

To lose some body parts
Can shake the bravest hearts
As pus and other fluids leak away.

Retire to your home
Stay there and do not roam
And try to make it through another day.

Some think it most amusing
As blood and gore they're losing
To pass a fish onto another person

But it doesn't give them ease
To spread the vile disease
It just leaves another victim loudly cursing.

Now the stain is suddenly lifted
With a Goddess we are gifted
The lakes and rivers no longer are forlorn.

Though, at the time, it was hateful
We should be truly grateful
That it wasn't Divine Twins, due to be born.
